On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Shrine

Ahh and here it is, the most fleshed out Penny Arcade spin-off/alternate universe which just so happens to be my favourite. It's split up into 4 episodes, 2 of them are 3D and 2 are 2D.

Plot

The games take place in New Arcadia, a fictional American town/city, circa 1922. The timeline of the in-game events happen during this year, every episode is implied to take place about a week after the previous.

Episode 1

"Four Gods wait on the windowsill, Where once eight Gods did war and will, And if the Gods themselves may die, What does that say for you and I?

The first episode starts with you racking leaves infront of your house. Close your eyes, it's New Arcadia circa 1922, the air is fresh yet also has a distinct smell of urban smog. It's great, right? TOO BAD! A GIANT ROBOT JUST CRUSHED YOUR POOR HOUSE! Two guys run through the wreckage and chase the giant robot thing down the street. Like any sane, vengeful person you chase those two guys down so you too can get in on killing that big robot. When you catch up to them they introduce themselves as Jonathan "Gabe" Gabriel and Tycho Erasmus Brahe of the Startling Detectives detective agency. --- You successfully kill the God of mimes (real name: Yog something or other)
^^Tycho (left) and Gabe (right)^^

Episode 2

Now, Three Gods wait on the windowsill, Where one God's blood was lately spilled, While black tongues lap at the spreading pool, And build the strength they need to rule,

--- You successfully kill the second God, the God of gears.

Episode 2.5 (the prologue of episode 3)

--- The episode ends with Tycho placing your character in a crystal on the outer edge of the universe and thus you cease to be part of the plot. Gabe witnesses this but Tycho wipes his memory of the day before carrying him back to the office. This is the only episode to end without the death of a God, as it's a prologue not a main episode.

Episode 3

When two Gods wait on the windowsill, The wick of the world is burning, still, But when one God in Triumph shouts, The candle of the world goes out,

This is the first episode where you play as someone other than yourself. A majority of the game has you playing as Gabe but it does switch you to playing Tycho during one short part.

Episode 4

And when that candle, bare and white, Sheds at last its dancing light, Then we will rouse, with raised rod, To pierce the very house of God."

The last episode has you constantly changing perspective between Gabe and Moira, with Tycho constantly appearing and disappearing. --- The last God, as you come to realise once the universe doesn't self-destruct upon the narrorators death, is your very own Tycho. If the fact there are 5937 Brahe, all looking nearly identical, in a castle in Underhell didn't make it obvious enough then it's plainly stated to you. As Tycho's sword morphs and his physical form shifts, he takes his true form. It's obvious that he himself had only recently learned of his status as God #4. Tycho fuses Gabe's active (Gabe) and primal (Lucifer) halves into one. Tycho then explains to Gabe that he is the "Lightbringer" and was made by Tycho's ancestors to assist with the Long Project and says that he needed him. Here's the actual quote: "...You would have left me. Or killed me. Which would have been understandable. I needed you... And not just for your knuckles. Okay?". He proceeds to apologise to the other 3 before asking Moira to shoot him and end this. Moira does as such, shooting Tycho with her pistol.
The universe goes dark, all is gone. Anne-Claire is all alone as an omnipitent being, left to rebuild the unvierse. The credits roll as she makes a new, better universe. We're left to think that this universe is the one that exists in the comics.

Characters

Gabe

Gabe can be summed up as a professional puncher of stuff and an occasionally wholesome idiot. He also happens to be created by the Brahe clan to serve as a helper which explains his extreme and downright homoerrotic attachment to Tycho.

Tycho

Anne-Claire

Anne-Claire Forthwith is the niece of Tycho Brahe, being his brother's daughter. Her role in the games is to serve as a sort of mechanic/hint-giver as she's the only character who can upgrade the main 3's weapons in episodes 1 and 2, to give hint and to move the plot along. In episode 3 she is trapped in a crystal in Periphery off-screen by Tycho.

Jim

Jim used to have skin. Used to. He spends the first 3 episodes as a skull in a jar before turning into a goo-based guy in episode 4, once he reaches Underhell with Moira.

Moira

Moira is the the ex-wife of Tycho Brahe, heavy on the 'ex' bit, meaning she wishes him nothing but death and doesn't hesitate to point her pistol in his face multiple times during the two episodes she appears in. She shows up during the halfway point of episode 3. She is the Precipice of Darkness equivalent of Brenna Brahe.
